How early do you have to arrive for a ferry?
You'll need to arrive between an hour and 30 minutes before your scheduled sailing time. Show your QR code to staff at the entrance to the port and they'll direct you to a numbered car lane.

Which is better Irish Ferries or Stena Line?
Both by car and as a foot passenger. In my opinion the Irish Ferries boat is better although there isn't much in it. The Stena boat tends to have more freight vehicles on it, in my experience.
Can I stay in my car on a ferry?
If you are wondering can you stay in your vehicle on a ferry the answer in most cases is no. Once the vessel starts with crossing, you will not be allowed onto the car parking deck as most of the large car ferries for safety reasons, do not allow passengers to stay in their cars.

We always recommend you book in advance to ensure space on your chosen sailing. During holiday periods and festivals, it is essential. Also, the further in advance you book, the more likely you are to pay a lower price.
What can you not take on a ferry?

over a year ago. over a year ago. Yes you can take your own food onto the ferry. There are signs asking you not to eat your own food in certain areas but this doesn't seem to be enforced.
Why can't you sit in your car on the ferry?
Most ferries also keep the crew off those decks, but for a security check at regular (or iregular) intervalls, staying away from the parked vehicles as much as possible. Keeping passengers from those decks makes for a much smaller chance of thieves breaking open cars parked there, which is an additional reason.
