Self-driving in Mongolia requires four-wheel drive vehicles (4WD), known also as 4×4 or all-wheel drive vehicles (AWD). These cars are specially modified to allow a comfortable drive in areas with poor quality ground roads and rough terrain such as the Gobi Desert and the Altai Mountains.
