How can I verify my passport?

Only the issuing agency – the passport department of the country that issued the original document – can verify a passport as current or valid. If in doubt, contact the consulate of the country that issued the passport and ask if it can verify it for you.

Paramedics can sign for passports. I am a paramedic and have done it plenty of times. Bizarrely paramedics can’t sign for premium bonds etc, but you can send your child’s passport (which was verified by a paramedic) as proof of ID for premium bonds!

The passport number can also be found in the Machine Readable Zone (MRZ). It is the first 9 characters of the 2nd line of the MRZ. It can contain letters as well as numbers. Do not use spaces when entering your passport number, even if they appear in your actual passport (see example below).
