What happens to existing visa when passport is renewed?
Is my existing visa valid which has the name as per my old passport? Do I have to apply for a new visa? No, you do not need to apply for new visa. The visa will remain valid even if it is in your old, cancelled passport.
Can I travel to Canada with new passport and visa on old passport?
Yes, a valid visa inside an expired document is considered valid. Make sure you have both your old passport with the valid visa and your new passport with you when travelling to Canada.
Can I transfer Canada visa to new passport?
If a valid visa inside an expired document is presented at the POE along with a valid passport or travel document, the visa is considered valid. Therefore you will be fine and can simply travel to Canada with valid Canadian visa on old passport along with a valid new passport.
Do visas get transferred new passport?

A: You have to fill up the Passport Application Form and apply for "Re-issue of Passport". Fresh police verification is initiated if the passport has expired more than three years ago. Hence, fresh police verification will be required in your case.

Use your old passport and you will be able to travel anywhere as long as there is 6 months validity remaining. Might be different for each country. In the US they take your old passport while processing the new one.

If you are in Dubai, you can transfer your residence visa from the old passport to the updated one via the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) Amer centres. In other emirates, you will need to apply for the service through the ICA or Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship.
