Maestro isn't accepted anywhere in shops in the US and a lot of the ATM's you find in stores will not accept it either. At least not in NYC so it likely holds true for the rest of the US. You can however use it in the bigger banks: Bank of america and Citi Bank will allow you to withdraw through Maestro.
